WHY Micro-Church.me?
Equipped to go and be church wherever 2 are gathered.
In Eden, the first “church,” there were no buildings, no schedules, no agendas, no hurry, and no worry. Only two people and God walking together in the cool of the day, enjoying the experience of being alive together. This was God’s original idea: “Life, together.” That’s it.
Now there are 7.7 billion people on the earth. 2.18 billion identify as those who follow Jesus.
What would happen if those 2.18 billion Jesus followers mobilized to walk as they did in Eden, enjoying life together, teaching ONLY ONE other person this year about Jesus?
By next year, there could easily be 2 billion new followers of Jesus who also feel deeply cared for, loved, and meaningfully connected. By year 3, we’d love the whole world into the Kingdom. What a concept! Why isn’t this happening?
Turns out, it’s not so easy to live together or love each other well. “The Church” as we know it, doesn’t have a numbers problem. We have an IDENTITY and LOVE problem.
Jesus said, “Go!” “Go into ALL the world and preach TO EVERY CREATURE the good news.” What is this good news? That someone finally showed us how to do it, how to love and be alive and be free, and he made the way for us to do so. Surprise! That’s the good news. Let’s not complicate it.
“Wherever two or three gather together in my name, there I am among them.” Church is WHEREVER there are 2 + Jesus, who shows us how to love, anywhere we are in the world.
How do we reach the whole world? We all start with one. It is a lot easier to love one person well, than it is to love a multitude. Who is your plus ONE for lunch, a hike, a bike, an art project, a sports event, aka who’s coming to church with you today?
Go forth you mighty lovers of God. Love one person well and you will have entered the Kingdom of God.
You’re not alone on the journey. Check out our resources to help you along the way.
